In regards to the third trend, I just asked a friend about whether or not they could see a future where they were paid to consume content by their favorite creators and whether or not they think this should be a reality we strive for. I think this conversation is somehow linked to Jaron Lanier’s argument on data dignity in which he says that consumers deserve to be somehow compensated for the data that they create which is then leveraged by big tech companies to advertise products and build massive AI models. Data as labor is another way to characterize this thought. And for the topic at hand, it could be summarized as “consumption as labor” when considering the attention economy.
