Over the decades, the internet has brought such exponential change to almost every aspect of our lives, that it makes the quote by Robert feel both like an understatement, and ever more important at the same time.
My friend Paul Publisher (who has a great substack at paulpublisher.substack.com btw) refers to the current era as the Patchwork Age. The old top down monoculture is breaking down (or has broken down) and has been replaced by a patchwork quilt of different niche groups and collectives. The future belongs to those who can either create their own patch or help sew different patches together in his view.
I find this way of looking at things extremely helpful and it ties into your Great Reshuffle concept idea.
