PLANET is the new sci-fi short film written and directed by 2024 O’Shaughnessy Fellow Jason Carman (recently profiled here) and executive-produced by Jim. It rocks.
Jason assembled a top-tier team to make this movie (including Pixar alumni), and it shows. It’s a sweeping, inspiring story about a man risking everything to build something extraordinary, brought to life with remarkable VFX and made for a fraction of a typical sci-fi blockbuster’s budget.
In September, the film premiered to 1,000 people at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, receiving rave reviews. It’s now out in the world. Check it out on YouTube (link below).
Set in the year 2730 IA, Dr. Evren Kon dares to think beyond a United Council request to build an orbital supercomputer and proposes an idea far bolder: a plan to build an artificial planet. The film takes place during the final century of the project.
Great short film, I really enjoyed it 💚 🥃
