Introducing: The Life of David Rhoiney
A sneak peek behind the scenes of a major new Infinite Media film & book project chronicling the extraordinary journey of Dr. David Rhoiney.
David Rhoiney was born at the bottom.
As an impoverished African American child, he survived seemingly unbearable hardships, from street violence to homelessness. Yet, despite the bleakest prospects, his adult years have been defined by a series of astonishing successes.
This desperate yet brilliant boy became a complex, ambitious man who refused to let himself be beaten by the dire circumstances he found himself in.
Now a qualified robotic surgeon, David has also excelled as a Division I athlete in basketball and track, a U.S. Navy cryptologist, a financial educator, a public speaker, and a web designer.
This is a story of ambition, ruthlessness, sacrifice, hubris, intelligence, stubbornness, loss, and, ultimately, hope.
This is the story of how David Rhoiney reached the top.
It took Jim less than an hour to decide that he wanted to produce a book and a film about David’s life.
Their meeting had emerged in the most serendipitous of circumstances. David was recommended for Infinite Loops by a kind third party who had won, via our NFT experiment, the right to suggest anyone he wanted as a guest on the show (full story here).
The resulting conversation, available here, didn’t disappoint. Over 80 minutes, David recounted some of the harrowing details of his childhood, from living in a car to missing school to care for his mother. He also shared some of his remarkable achievements, including playing Division I basketball, becoming a U.S. Navy cryptologist, and qualifying as a robotic surgeon.
By the end of the conversation, Jim knew that this incredible, one-of-a-kind story needed to be told to the widest audience possible.
After some contemplation, David agreed.
The project will unfold in two parts.
Firstly, OSV team member Ed William is writing a biography of David (to be published by Infinite Books), drawing from extensive interviews with David and dozens of his friends, family, and colleagues.
Second, Infinite Films will produce a documentary about David (based partly on Ed’s book).
Before filming for the documentary kicks off in 2024, we’re excited to present an exclusive pre-production trailer produced by the talented filmmaker Zachary Tannar, who joined Ed earlier this year to visit David at his home in Virginia.
This teaser isn't a trailer for the documentary but an early opportunity to become acquainted with David and his story—in his words, in his voice—so you can see for yourself the depth and drama of the story to come.
We’re on the lookout for a director/screenwriter to lead the documentary. If you or someone you know wants the opportunity to be a driving creative force on this fantastic project, reach out to us at info@osv.llc. Keep an eye on our Twitter and Substack for the full job posting in the coming days.

This it going to be an incredible film. Isn't it amazing how there are still so many—maybe an infinite—number of important stories waiting to be told? Even in today's super connected, media-saturated world!
